RISE Trials are a set of randomized controlled evaluations designed to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of remote trial methods.

In a set of 3 randomized controlled trials (RCTs), participants are randomized to remote vs. in-person screening, and then randomized again to remote vs. in-person treatment, assessment, and follow-up. The health condition/problem and treatment type vary across the 3 trials (see below), but the research design is the same and the outcomes (accrual rate, retention, treatment adherence, and bio-specimen completion rate) are harmonized across studies.

Expanding the Evidence for Remote, In-Person, and Hybrid Trial Designs

RISE bridges the gap between remote and in-person behavioral trials, providing researchers with a toolkit to efficiently evaluate emerging evidence on the implementation of decentralized trial designs.
